I came to Grand Island with my family from Blair, Nebraska. I Started School at Barr Jr High. I graduated from Grand Island Senior High in the class of 1965, where I met my future wife Nancy.
I attended the Rochester (New York), Institute of Technology majoring in Photography and UNL majoring in Anthropology.
In the middle of all of that Nancy and I married and moved back to the Grand Island Area in 1968.
We have 3 children, Wendy, Jennifer and Terry Jr. and one grandson George. Nancy finished her teaching degree and taught Early Childhood Handicapped for the Columbus Educational Service Unit until she passed away.
I Started my career at the old Lumbard-Leschinsky Studio in Downtown Grand Island while still in Junior High. Continued working there throughout High School until I left for college. When Nancy and I returned from Lincoln I returned to the studio with the job of photographing Children in the Aunt Mary Birthday Club. After a little over 2 years I became the Portrait Studio Manager and Assistant Camera Store Manager after the departure of Paul Bader to his own studio in Valentine. I continued there until mid 1982 when I purchased the Don Bartelt Studio at Five Points in Grand Island. With the help of Nancy we ran a general photography business of Weddings, Commercial buildings and Advertising, Senior Portraits, Family Groups, School Sports, Elementary School portraits and Copy and Restoration of photographs. After Nancy's passing I started the road t0 retirement. I can see the Retirement signpost in the distance but have quite reached it yet.
